Role Families
Supporting careers in Corporate
Within Bank of Scotland Corporate, there are five role families. These families group similar roles together and are not necessarily tied to functional areas. A role family within Corporate may contain up to five levels. The level defines the size of the role and it maps exactly to the equivalent HBOS level.
The advantage of this role family framework is to help colleagues focus on learning and development opportunities. Colleagues can use the framework to help with their individual career planning either within the same family or across families, horizontally or vertically.
Enabling role family
Its objective is to provide specialist functional or professional expertise to advise and support the business.
Business areas include Finance, IT, Human Resources and Marketing & Product Development.
Technical Services role family
Its objective is to directly influence and support the Sales and Relationship Management and Transactional families through the application of in-depth technical expertise.
Business areas include Asset & Liability Management and Special Projects.
Transactional role family
Its objective is to support the origination and negotiation of complex, bespoke financial solutions for large corporation customers.
Business areas include Infrastructure Finance, Joint Ventures and Structured Finance.
Sales and Relationship Management role family
Its objective is to source and develop of new and existing business.
Business areas include Specialist Deposit Services, Motor and Specialist Finance.
Business Support role family
Its objective is to provide operational, functional or business support to internal and external customer-related processes and services.
Business areas include Lending Support, Collections and Customer Care. Graduate trainees will also be aligned to this role family.
