Urgent flood advice

A Message To Customers Affected By Recent Floods

In the wake of the recent flooding, we have put in place a number of special arrangements to help Bank of Scotland customers who have been affected by the floods.

For customers insured with us:

  • If you can no longer live in your home, we can make emergency payments and help you secure temporary accommodation.
  • During a complex claim, if we feel you need the extra support, we can appoint a dedicated Personal Claims Consultant who will visit your home and personally help you get back to normal.
  • We can provide you with access to one of our preferred builders and restoration experts to help repair your home.

For our business customers:

  • Our relationship managers are contacting business customers we believe to be directly affected by the incident to offer support and see how we can help.
  • We will meet all reasonable requests for finance to aid immediate cashflow needs, including extensions to overdrafts and help to cover business loan repayments.
  • We’re working with customers to help them with practical arrangements, such as payment of wages or suppliers, which may have been disrupted by the floods.

For all our affected customers:

  • If you have an overdraft facility or credit card you can ask for an emergency limit increase.
  • If your home has been affected by the recent floods you can defer your mortgage and/or your personal loan repayments for 3 months (interest will continue to be applied)*.
  • If your holiday plans have been affected we'll refund travel money ordered with us and also buy back uncollected travel money without any penalty.

For customers saving with us:

  • We will allow all customers who have been affected by flood damage to access their funds even if they are in a fixed rate savings account, free of penalty.
  • If you wish to withdraw from an ISA, please be aware that you cannot replace any money you withdraw in a tax year.
  • Part withdrawals cannot be made from a Term Deposit, however should you not require access to all your funds, you can open a new Term Deposit with the funds you would like to continue to save.
