9 Easy Steps
What to do next?
- Choose the class of boat and a price range you feel comfortable with.
- Contact a Bank of Scotland marine finance expert to choose a finance route that's right for you.
- Agree a price with the vendor or broker. If the boat is used your offer should be subject to evidence of a good title, something we can check on your behalf. If a vessel is over 12 months old, it will need a survey and valuation (marine mortgages only).
- Call us on 0845 603 2362† with the details of your intended purchase and we can start the finance documentation. Registration of the craft must then be considered; this is done after payout but with Bank of Scotland holding all the completed registration documentation.
- Arrange your survey and valuation, if required (we will happily give you the names of registered surveyors in your area). Then supply us with a copy.
- Arrange your boat insurance to begin on the date of delivery. It is a condition of the loan advance that insurance with a reputable company is in place. Bank of Scotland is an Introducer for Navigators & General, part of the Zurich group. We do not recommend any one company, but an indication of premium and cover can be obtained through their website.
- On receipt of your mortgage / loan documents, check, sign and return them.
- Funds will be released directly to you or to the vendor or broker, and you can take delivery of your boat within one month.
- Your mortgage / loan payments will begin about one month after delivery. Bon voyage!
