Good News From Bank Of Scotland

September 2005

The UK’s leading provider of marine finance, Bank of Scotland Marine Finance returns from the recent sunny Southampton Boat Show reporting planned boat purchases ‘on a par with 2004’.

Peter Whitehead, Director of Marine is delighted with the show, ‘After a patchy summer, with various stories of retail downturns and housing market uncertainties, I think we, along with many fellow exhibitors went into this year’s show with our fingers crossed. I am delighted to report that having totalled up the figures, the number of potential boat buyers coming onto our stand to complete proposals was about the same as last year. The value of those proposals was also about the same.’

Peter further commented, ‘The small boat market was quite quiet for us this year, but the market for mid-range and top end boats remains healthy. This will, no doubt be confirmed by some of the exhibiting boat manufacturers. As has been the trend for some years now, we are still seeing more visitors planning to purchase motor boats than sailing boats. The split for our visitors this year was approximately 65:35, motor to sail.’

Please note that boat buyers should always seek financial advice whenever they wish to invest or look at different funding solutions.
