Non-UK customer previous rates

After September 2011 Bank of Scotland accounts are not available to non-UK customers. Lines are open Mon-Fri 8am - 6pm and Sat 9:30am - 1.30pm UK local time.

These rates apply to customers classed as 'not ordinarily resident in the UK' for tax purposes and who can register their UK accounts to receive interest paid gross. This means British expatriates living or working abroad, non-British nationals, or foreign students or nationals temporarily living in the UK.

AER stands for Annual Equivalent Rate and illustrates what the interest would be if interest was paid and compounded each year. The gross rate is the contractual rate of interest, without any deduction for income tax. Interest will be paid gross if you complete a HM Revenue & Customs 'not ordinarily resident' registration. This declaration will confirm that you are not ordinarily resident in the UK for tax purposes.  If you don't make a registration, we'll have to pay interest net, after taking off income tax (currently at 20%). If your balance is less than £50 you won't receive any interest unless you appear in our records as being under 21. This does not include Halifax Monthly Saver, Halifax Guaranteed Saver or Halifax Guaranteed Saver Reward.

These rates apply where interest is paid annually, quarterly or at the end of the term (as shown) - a monthly interest option is available on some products at a slightly lower rate. For further details, contact any branch.
