A more secure sign in
We've made your sign in process more secure
What we've changed
To improve your online security we’ve changed the way you sign in. We have replaced your security questions and asked you to create and remember a new and unique piece of security information called 'memorable information'.
Why we've changed it
Memorable Information is more secure than security questions as we only ask for a few characters (letters or numbers) at any one time. This makes it very difficult for anyone to learn or guess the entire piece of information .
Why we use drop-downs
We use drop-down menus to allow you to select, rather than type, the letters or numbers from your memorable information. This is done to help ensure that malicious software cannot record what you type in.
Please remember:
- To log in you should always type http://www.bankofscotland.co.uk into your address bar and click on the Sign in button in the Online Banking section. Do not save the website to your bookmarks or favourites or follow links from search engines as these are easy for fraudsters to fake.
- Beware of any pop-ups or unusual web pages that you are not expecting, especially if these ask you to enter your security details. Bank of Scotland do not use pop-ups to collect security details.
- If you’re not sure if a site is genuine call us on 08456 02 00 00
Be aware that Bank of Scotland may email you or send you a text message from time to time, but this communication will never ask you to enter your Internet Banking details either through an email, text message or a website.
