How do I get cashback?

For all offers, you need to remain registered for Everyday Offers to get your cashback. There are no vouchers or coupons to print and you do not need to show any voucher or discount codes at checkout.

Debit or credit card offers

Go to your Everyday Offers hub and click on the offers you wish to use to activate them, then pay using your Bank of Scotland debit or credit card when you next shop there.

Direct Debit offers

You will see any Direct Debit offers alongside your other offers either on your Account Overview or the Everyday Offers homepage.

The text in the offer will indicate that it is a Direct Debit offer.

To redeem these offers:
1. Click on an offer to find out more details and to activate it
2. Sign up for services using the merchant’s normal processes as stated in the offer’s conditions.

Important Information
Signing up for subscription services normally requires that you enter into a contract with the service provider. Typically these have a minimum term of between 12 and 24 months.

You must consider whether you are able to commit to a regular payment for this length of time.

If you cancel, change or switch your subscription before the end of the minimum term you may be charged early termination or other fees by the merchant.

If you are signing up to a new supplier you must check with your current supplier whether early termination fees will apply. You must take this into account when deciding whether to sign up to a new service.

You should contact your service provider(s) directly for details of their specific policies.

How will I find out if my purchase is selected for It’s On Us?

We will leave a message on your Everyday Offers homepage and the cashback you get will be added to the next month’s Everyday Offers payment. If your purchase was for less than £5.00, we’ll round it up to this amount.

When will I receive my cashback?

If you have more than one personal current account with Bank of Scotland, we will pay your cashback into the oldest account, however, you can nominate a different Bank of Scotland account to have your cashback paid into.

You need to remain registered for Everyday Offers to receive your cashback.

Cashback earned using a debit or credit card

Cashback will be automatically paid into your account on or before the last working day of the following month. For example, if you made your redeeming transaction in January, your cashback should be paid into your Bank of Scotland personal current account at the end of February.

Cashback earned for a Direct Debit offer

Cashback will be paid into your current account on or before the last working day of the month following your second Direct Debit payment.

Please note:
If you cancel your new service(s) before your second Direct Debit payment is collected you will not receive any cashback.

The time it takes for a merchant to set up your Direct Debit may affect the date when we pay your cashback.

How do I keep track of how much cashback I’ve earned?

You’ll find your earnings under ‘Your earnings’ tab in Everyday Offers. This shows:

  • the total cashback you’ve been paid to date
  • the amount due to be paid
  • the cashback you've earned over the last 3 months and a breakdown of your qualifying transactions.

You can print, save or take a screen shot of these FAQs and the other conditions for each offer you activate for your records.

Can I lose my cashback?

You will lose any unpaid cashback that’s due to go into your personal current account if you close the account or we close the account or give you notice of the account’s closure and there’s no alternative current account for us to pay the money into, or if you switch off the service.

In certain circumstances the law may prevent us from paying you the cashback, for example where fraud or money laundering is involved.

Is there any limit to the amount of cashback I can earn?

There isn’t a limit to the total amount of cashback you can earn from Everyday Offers, but there may be a limit to the amount you can earn from each offer. Read the offer details to find out what you can earn and how many times you can use the offer. If there’s a limit to the number of times you can use an offer in a day, you’ll get cashback on the highest value purchase you make.

For example:

  • Monday 7 May - you activate an offer for 10% cashback on a single purchase over £50.
  • Thursday 10 May - you make three qualifying purchases for £55, £80 and £100.
  • Friday 29 June - you get £10 cashback on the highest value purchase of £100.

Please note that your offer details will only show as ‘cashback’ after qualifying transactions have appeared on your statement, which may be 2-5 days after your purchase.

Do I need to collect points or use a voucher or code to earn cashback?

There are no vouchers or codes to worry about. Everyday Offers is automatically linked to your Bank of Scotland branded debit or credit card. Log in to Internet or Mobile Banking and activate the offers you want.

How do you decide which offers I receive and what’s in them?

The offers you receive are chosen for you based on the places you have previously shopped at before using your Bank of Scotland debit or credit card, or merchants you have set up a Direct Debit with. Each offer will include conditions such as:

  • how much you need to spend at the retailer to earn cashback
  • if an offer is available online and in store or just online
  • the amount you can earn in pounds or as a percentage
  • any restrictions and the offer expiry date
  • any limits to the amount you can earn from each offer.

You can print, save or take a screen shot of these conditions for your records.

Will you send me reminders about my Everyday Offers?

We will send you occasional reminders about your offers and other information to do with Everyday Offers. These will be sent via email, text or push notification depending on the contact details and permissions we hold for you. If you don’t want to receive these messages you can stop them at any time by following the instructions we give in the message or, for push notifications, by switching them off on your mobile device.

Changing your settings

Is it easy to leave Everyday Offers?

Yes, you can switch Everyday Offers off (or on) at any time. Go to the Everyday Offers ‘Settings’. Please remember, if you switch it off you will lose any unpaid cashback that’s due to go into your account.

What happens to It’s On Us if I switch off Everyday Offers?

If you switch off Everyday Offers you’ll no longer be eligible for any offers, including It’s On Us offers, meaning you’ll no longer have the chance to receive a purchase on us. You will lose out on any cashback that hasn’t already been paid into your account. So it’s best to wait until we pay the cashback into your account before switching Everyday Offers off.

Which account is cashback paid into?

Your cashback will be paid into your Bank of Scotland personal current account. If you have more than one, it will be paid into the oldest one. However, you can change this to another Bank of Scotland personal current account in Everyday Offers ‘Settings’.

What if I have more than one Bank of Scotland branded personal debit or credit card linked to Everyday Offers?

Everyday Offers works with all of your Bank of Scotland branded personal debit or credit cards. All your cards help to get you offers based on the places you shop. Use any of your cards to claim your cashback. Check which these are in your Everyday Offers ‘Settings’ tab.

What if my Bank of Scotland branded personal debit card is for a joint account?

You can use a joint current account for Everyday Offers. When you log in to Internet Banking with your details you’ll only see your personal offers. Offers will match your spending and not that of the other account holder. Only the person who has accepted the offer will earn cashback. The cashback you’ve earned will be paid into the personal current account you’ve chosen, either your joint or your name only account.

Note that for Direct Debit offers, if both parties receive and activate the same Direct Debit offer but only one party sets up the relevant subscription service to redeem the offer, the first party to activate the offer will receive the cashback into their nominated account, which may be the joint account or an alternative account.

Can any additional cardholder on my Bank of Scotland branded credit card account earn cashback?

Cashback will only be paid to the primary cardholder. Spending by any additional cardholder will be used to generate new offers, and their spending will also count towards any cashback earned by the primary cardholder. Only the primary cardholder will be able to see and activate offers.

What happens to the information you collect about me?

So that we are able to provide you with relevant offers, we will regularly review the information we have about you. This helps us work out which offers you are eligible for and which are likely to be of interest to you. You might notice that some of the offers we send you are for places where you regularly shop or are local to your home or work. That's because some of the offers may be based on the location of places you have shopped at in the past, or the area you live in. Unless we have your express permission to do so, Everyday Offers will not use your mobile phone location data. For full information on how the bank uses information about you, please see our privacy policy and check your marketing preferences in Internet Banking.

Will you share my data with anyone if I join Everyday Offers?

We will not share your personal information with any retailers or merchants, however to provide you with Everyday Offers we do share data with certain trusted third parties under strict controls and conditions.

This allows us to identify and provide you with your tailored offers. Your information is always secure and only used in accordance with our privacy policy.

  2. Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act to bring certain claims you may have against a retailer against us instead if you have used a credit card. These rights do not form part of the Everyday Offers terms and conditions – please refer to your relevant debit or credit card terms and conditions for details.

You’ll keep any cashback we have already paid into your account, even if you get a refund on your purchase.
