Features and benefits

  • A choice of card. Choose a Visa debit card, which can be used in shops, online or over the phone and at Cashpoint® machines, or a Cashpoint card which can just be used for taking out cash.
  • Competitive rate of interest. Earn a variable rate of interest, paid quarterly, of 1.50% AERCloseAnnual Equivalent RateThe Annual Equivalent Rate illustrates what the interest rate would be if interest was paid and compounded each year. The AER allows you to compare different offers easily. (1.49% grosCloseGross rateGross rate means that we will not deduct tax automatically from your interest. You are responsible for paying any tax due to HM Revenue and Customss p.a.) on balances up to £2,500. You will not earn credit interest on amounts of £2,500 or higher.
  • Free mobile alerts. To help you keep an eye on your balance.1
  • Access to Internet Banking. This is a limited service for Under 19s Account holders.2
  • Top up your mobile. Option to top up your Pay as You Go mobile at most Bank of Scotland Cashpoint® machines. Successful mobile top ups will reduce the amount of money you can take out of your account that day.

  • Access to Telephone Banking, allowing you to do everything from checking balances and payments to transferring money, and a whole lot more.
  • Save up to £75.99 with the AA Driving School and drive down the cost of getting your licence (if you're 17 or over). Save £36 on AA driving lessons and receive a free ‘Pass Your Test’ CD-ROM worth £19.99. After passing your test save a further £20 off Pass Plus - the DSA recognised qualification for advanced practical skills which could secure a discount of up to 35% on car insurance.3

11-12 year olds

A parent or guardian must be with you when you open your account or if you apply for more services.

You cannot apply online and can only apply for an Under 19s account in a branch. You’ll need to bring:
