The policy booklet definition of ‘Buildings’ does not apply. Instead, ‘Buildings’ is defined as ‘The structure of your home including its permanent fixtures, and fittings and services, garden walls, gates, fences, hedges, paths, drives, patios, tennis courts, wind turbines, fixed solar panels and permanent swimming pools, saunas, hot tubs all within the grounds of your home and for which you are legally responsible. Carpets and other floor coverings, curtains/blinds and domestic white goods up to a maximum of £5,000 are also included.’
The policy booklet definition of ‘Unoccupied’ does not apply. Instead, ‘Unoccupied’ is defined as 'Not lived in by your tenant for more than the unoccupancy period of 30 or 60 days as chosen by you and shown in your policy schedule'.
Malicious damage or vandalism - In addition to the ‘What we don’t cover’ and ‘General Exclusions’ sections in your policy booklet, you are not covered for the following:

Alternative Accommodation – The wording relating to ‘Alternative Accommodation' in the 'What we cover’ section of your policy booklet does not apply and is replaced with: ‘If the Buildings stated in your policy schedule is made uninhabitable by any cause covered under Buildings - cover, we will pay for:
i) Rent you should have received but have lost, unless this is covered by any other policy, OR;
ii) The reasonable costs of similar temporary alternative accommodation for your tenant. whilst the home stated in your policy schedule cannot be lived in.
We will pay up to the amount shown in your policy schedule for any one event.
The following conditions have been added to your policy by this endorsement:
Whenever the home stated in your policy schedule is untenanted for more than 30 or 60 days in a row as chosen by you and shown in your policy schedule you must contact us immediately and:
i) Inspect the home stated in your policy schedule internally at least once a fortnight.
ii) Turn off the water, gas and electricity services at the mains and drain the water system. With our agreement, electricity services can be turned on, if the home stated in your policy schedule has a mains powered alarm system.
iii) Put all locks, bolts, security and protective devices at the home stated in your policy schedule into full and effective operation.
Tenants must be employed, not students or claiming unemployment benefits.
The property must be occupied by an individual, a couple, a family or up to 3 unrelated people sharing.
Health & Safety Legislation:
All requirements under any Health & Safety Legislation for let properties must be followed and fully complied with. If you do not follow these conditions, you will break a condition of your policy which may result in non-payment of all or part of your claim.
