Transferring into a Help to Buy: ISA?

  • The monthly subscriptions to your Help to Buy: ISA cannot be funded by an ISA transfer.
  • You can make unlimited withdrawals, but you will not be able to claim any Help to Buy: ISA bonus on the funds you withdraw and it will take you longer to save enough to qualify for the maximum bonus as you can only pay in £200 each month.
  • If you are transferring from another Help to Buy: ISA, the full funds in that ISA must be transferred to us. Remember, you are only allowed to have one Help to Buy: ISA.
  • Please note that if you’re transferring from a cash ISA, your transfer request must be made within 21 days of opening your Help to Buy: ISA account, and can only be used to fund part or all of your initial deposit of up to £1,000. Your current year’s subscriptions must be transferred in full as you are only allowed to fund one cash ISA per tax year.
  • For more information about transferring from a Bank of Scotland ISA to a Help to Buy: ISA, please read our internal transfer guide (PDF). For more information about transferring from another provider to a Help to Buy: ISA please read our external transfer guide (PDF).

Transferring into a fixed cash ISA?

If you have a fixed cash ISA that has been opened for longer than 60 days then you won’t be able to transfer or deposit into that account. Remember, you can only pay into one cash ISA each tax year.

Transferring in from a flexible ISA?

If you ask to transfer a flexible ISA in full and you have withdrawn all or part of any amount you paid in during a previous tax year, you will not be able to replace these withdrawals once the transfer process starts.
