Supporting customers affected by serious illness

A serious illness means you may be facing an injury, disease, or physical condition that is having a negative impact on your quality of life. Your most immediate priority will be dealing with the challenges of a serious illness. However, this may affect your finances. You might struggle financially if you can't work. We’re here to support you.

How we can help you

Speak to our dedicated serious illness support team

Our serious illness support team can help if you or a loved one has a serious illness. Our dedicated support team offers a confidential, free service. We provide practical help to reduce the impact of a serious illness on your finances.

Our team can provide:

  • An assessment of your finances and can help manage any changes to your finances, at every stage.
  • Practical guidance on personal banking, savings, loans, mortgages, and credit cards.
  • Referrals to other areas of Bank of Scotland that may be able to help.
  • Information on help available from other charities that can offer specific support about your illness.
  • We sometimes offer help to reduce the financial burden of a serious illness. This includes options like mortgage payment holidays and waiving current account charges.
