Click to Pay

Click to Pay makes online shopping simple and secure wherever you see the Click to Pay logo.

What's Click to Pay?

Click to Pay securely stores your payment and address details. This saves you putting in your card details every time you buy something online, using your Visa debit card.

  • Easier – you won’t need to retype the payment details. Helpful if you don’t have your card to hand.
  • Smart – set it up once to save time checking out when you see the Click to Pay logo. Simply select ‘remember me’ and ‘trust this device’ on your trusted devices.
  • Secure – protected by Visa’s advanced technologies and payment security, giving you confidence when shopping online.

Click to Pay is coming

Soon we'll be offering Click to Pay as a feature of our debit cards.

You don't need to do anything yet

Once we've added your debit cards to Click to Pay over the coming months, you'll be able to manage your Click to Pay preferences in the app.

To use Click to Pay, you must:

  • be aged 18 or over
  • have an active debit card
  • have an active email address and mobile phone number registered with us
  • have access to our mobile banking app.

You can also register for Click to Pay when checking out online if the Click to Pay icon is displayed.

How to do it

We'll take it step by step.

  • Once we've added your cards to Click to Pay, you'll be able to manage your card status in the app.

    1. Log in to the app then select ‘Cards’ on the bottom right of your screen.
    2. Under your debit cards select ‘Click to Pay’.

If you want to update your personal details linked to Click to Pay in the app, select the profile and settings icon in the top right corner.

A look at the details

  • Your personal details, including mobile number and email address, for Click to Pay match the details held by us. You can see and update these using the app. Just tap on the settings icon to view and edit your details.

  • This maybe because we haven’t added your debit cards to Click to Pay yet or you've recently had a replacement card.

Once we've added your active debit cards to Click to Pay you can view them in the app.

Log in to the app and select ‘Cards’ in the bottom right of your screen, then select ‘Click to Pay’.

If you want to add any other Visa cards to Click to Pay now, you can do this on the Visa website.

  • This depends. If your personal details, such as name, mobile number and email address are the same as the details with your other financial service providers, you'll have a single Click to Pay profile, with all your registered cards together.

You'll be able to see this when you check out and select which card to pay with. If your details don't match across banks, then you'll have more than one Click to Pay profile. To see all your registered cards in one Click to Pay profile you'll need to make sure your personal details are the same with all your card providers.

  • Great news - you're already using Click to Pay. We're making changes behind the scenes to make Click to Pay easier to use. Here are the key things you need to know:

    • We'll be adding your debit card to Click to Pay as part of your account terms and conditions with us. When we do this, your Click to Pay terms with Visa will end.
    • Your details for using Click to Pay will match the ones we have on record for you. These details include your name, email address and telephone number. If these details aren't the same, you can check and update them in the app by selecting the profile and settings icon in the top-right corner.
    • You can manage Click to Pay using the app, like removing cards and updating details, including your email address. You'll no longer be able to use the Visa portal to do this.
  • If you can’t access Click to Pay in the app yet, that's because we haven’t added your debit cards yet. We'll be adding cards over the coming months so keep checking back in the app.

If you want to add your cards to Click to Pay now, you can do this on the Visa website.

  • What data are we sharing with Visa?

When we add your cards to Click to Pay, we also share your personal details with Visa. This includes your name, email address, phone  number and address. This information is stored securely and encrypted with Visa.

Why do you need to share my data with Visa?

Visa and Bank of Scotland provide Click to Pay jointly. We need to share your details with Visa so they can recognise you when you're shopping online.

Who is responsible for my personal information in Click to Pay?

Bank of Scotland and Visa are joint data controllers for the Click to Pay service. This means that we're both responsible for how your personal data is used and protected.

How does Visa use my personal details?

Visa uses your data for the purpose of Click to Pay.  They securely share your personal information with participating card networks, service providers and merchants to facilitate the checkout experience.
