If you’re already an existing Bank of Scotland Car Insurance customer, you’re in the right place. Get helpful information on how to make the most of your car insurance policy. Including; how to make changes to your existing car insurance policy, making a claim, car insurance renewals and providing proof of No Claims Discount (NCD).

My Account

As an existing customer, you can make changes to your car insurance policy online, when it’s convenient to you. With My Account, you can:
 

  • Add and remove additional drivers
  • Change your car, cover level and car use
  • Change your address and contact details
  • Make payments and change your payment details
  • View, download or print your policy documents.


Important information: changes made to your policy may result in a change in premium.

Car insurance claims

If you need to make a car insurance claim, we’re here to help. If your claim is due to a car accident you don’t need to immediately register a claim but we’d recommend contacting us within 24 hours if possible.

Proof of no claims discount

You may be asked to provide us with proof of your no claims discount. Acceptable proof of no claims discount include either of the following:

  • a renewal invitation from your previous insurer stating the expiry date of the policy
  • a no claims discount letter from your previous insurer confirming the expiry or cancellations date of the policy.

You can e-mail your proof of no claims discount to: bankofscotland.NCD@insure-systems.co.uk

To send proof by post: Bank of Scotland Car Insurance, Unit 25, Tresham Road, Orton Southgate, Peterborough, PE2 6BU.
 

You’ll need to send in your proof of no claims discount within 21 days of your policy start date. We may increase your premium or cancel the policy if you fail to do so. 

Car insurance renewals

If your car insurance policy is up for renewal, we won’t automatically renew your policy.

Your policy will only be automatically renewed if you’ve opted in for this service when you purchased your original policy, either online or over the phone.

We’ll contact you 28 days before the policy is due to expire with your new renewal quote. You can then choose to accept the renewal quote or cancel it using the online My Account. 

Alternatively, you can call us to accept or cancel your renewal quote over the phone. If you’re not happy with you’re quote we can also ask our panel of insurers to quote you again.

Additional drivers

If you have a family member or partner that you would like to add to your car insurance, this can be done online via the Self-Service Centre.

If you’re the main car insurance policy holder, you can add additional drivers to your policy. You can also remove them online as well.

Before you add another driver to your car insurance policy, please be aware that changes made to your policy may result in a change in premium.

    We appreciate that many things can lead to financial difficulty. Our representatives can discuss your individual circumstances and find a way to help, which could include:

    • A short-term payment holiday
    • Moving your payment dates
    • Agreeing partial payments.

    Don’t wait until you miss a payment to speak to us, as we can help beforehand.

    We ask that you don’t cancel your payments or Direct Debits as your policy could be cancelled as a result, leaving you uninsured.

Ukraine crisis

If you are using your vehicle in the UK to support the humanitarian crisis unfolding in Ukraine and have Bank of Scotland car insurance cover, you do not need to tell us about your change in circumstance or amend your policy. You’ll continue to be covered by your existing policy. Read the FAQs below for more information:
