Schroders Personal Wealth logo

No one knows what’s round the corner: illness, injury or loss of income. From life insurance to critical illness cover and more, Schroders Personal Wealth can help make sure you have enough money should the unexpected happen, which may provide you and your family with peace of mind.

Through our partnership with Schroders Personal Wealth, you can access advice on:

  • Life and term assurance
  • Critical illness cover
  • Income protection
  • Long-term care planning

Protection products have no cash-in value at any time and cover will stop if you aren’t able to pay your premiums. If the policy amount has not been paid out by the end of the selected term, the policy will end and you’ll get nothing back.

Did you know?

Less than 1% of UK households have income protection in place1.

Making sure you have the right protection for you and your loved ones can give you peace of mind, should the unexpected happen.

How can I protect myself and my family?

Life assurance

Life assurance is a type of insurance that pays out a lump sum if the policyholder passes away

Long-term care

Long term care can be expensive which could require savings or help from your family to cover. There may be protection policies and other strategies to help in this situation and bring you peace of mind.

Critical illness cover

This type of cover can protect your finances if you are diagnosed with a medical condition or suffer a physical disability that’s covered by the policy.

If you can’t work due to illness during the term of your policy, you’ll receive a pay-out of an agreed amount.

Income protection

Income protection is a type of insurance that pays out a tax-free replacement income if you are unable to work due to ill health or injury.

The percentage of your income that will be paid out will be determined by the level of cover you take out.

Protection: FAQs

Are life assurance policies taxable?

A life assurance policy could be liable for inheritance tax, depending on the value of the lump sum paid to your beneficiaries upon death, as well as your total estate/assets .

Inheritance tax is generally 40% which applies when estates are valued at more than £325,000 and are passed to non-spouse beneficiaries.

What is the difference between life assurance and life insurance?

Life assurance has no term and lasts for the rest of an individual’s life, while Life insurance pays out if the individual passes away during the term of the policy.
