Eligibility Checker

We're sorry

Unfortunately, based on the information you gave us, we will not be able to offer you a credit card at the moment.

This decision has not affected your credit score.

What does this mean?

There are several factors which influence our decision:

  • Affordability – this considers your employment, borrowing, spending and residential status. All these affect your ability to keep up with the repayments.
  • Credit rating – this is an overview of your ability to meet your financial commitments, from an independent organisation (Experian, Call Credit or Equifax).
  • Number of cards – having several credit cards already can have an impact on your eligibility.
  • Recent applications – if you have applied for a card recently, wait until six months have passed before applying again.

If you’re having financial difficulties, help is available. The Money Advice Service offers free and independent financial advice. You can also call our customer service team on 0345 964 5645 or visit your local branch.

Tips to improve your credit rating and other useful links

  • Get a copy of your credit file from EquifaxCall Credit or Experian. It may show specific problems which you can address.
  • Make sure you’re on the electoral register.
  • Don’t make too many credit cards applications. These appear on your credit report, and multiple applications can reduce your credit rating.
  • Cancel any credit cards you don’t use
  • Pay off your existing debts on time.
