Boiler room fraud

Boiler room fraud is the name used to describe someone receiving an unsolicited call which then persuades them into buying shares.

These shares invariably turn out to be worthless and in many cases non existent. The fraudster will lure you with promises of high returns and money to be made in the shares. You may also receive calls from so called recovery agents stating that they can get back funds already invested for a fee.

Should you receive any of these calls we would strongly advise that you do not send money.

Further information on boiler room fraud can be found on the Financial Conduct Authority web site.
